REAL WEDDING: { JAY & BARBIE }

Every now and then, we are blessed with couples who are more than willing to break convention just to have a fun and memorable wedding. Without a doubt, Jay & Barbie's wedding was rebellious in all aspects. With a Nike Air-inspired theme that literally pushed the envelope and a rather difficult color motif to match (Aqua + Turquoise + Red), its bound to be one of those unique events that will be remembered for a long time.

Barbie first wrote us in June 2012 expressing dismay that our December 2013 was already fully booked. But since she had an unusual theme that allowed for more possibilities in terms of design, it was decided that our craft team, {etc} handmade goodness, would make her bridal bouquet & the boutonnieres and Vatel Manila will make the fresh bouquets of the entourage.

If we're not mistaken, this is the first wedding that {etc} made boutonnieres for which featured miniature polymer clay versions of Nike Air shoes, a specialized line that Jay & Barbie both collect. From this wedding onwards, we've had several orders for the same, which pretty much confirmed how popular basketball really is in this country (as we write this, Team Gilas actually just won over Korea in the last quarter of the FIBA Asia 2013 semi finals at SM Arena, 86-79, qualifying the Philippines for the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain! Yey!).

This may also be the first customized bouquet in the Philippines that made use of - what else? - shoe laces! Check it out! ^_^

Yet, despite the quirky theme, Jay & Barbie ceremony remained solemn. The after party, however, was a blast! The couple prepared an awesome special dance (too bad we don't see it in their SDE!), and the elements in the reception - shoe centerpieces, anyone? - really completed the desired overall effect. What we love though is that without probably meaning to, the color motif actually helped a lot in making this event look so put together. The pop of red & turquoise in several elements was really a nice touch. ^_^
